Rebooting a retro style with a modern twist

October 30, 2013

With the thin veins of retro style running through this shoot photographer Olga Rubio Dalmau and stylist Max Marzinger manage to create a cosmopolitan fashion shoot applicable to both vintage styling and a modern appeal of clothing for the contemporary woman.

This retro look carries a slightly androgynous flair throughout, blending together oversized coats and chunky boots with the femininity of lush red lips and smoky eyes. The ability to create this blurred line of contrast between masculine and feminine allows the viewer (and ultimately the wearer) to mix and match with what suits their specific style, therefore creating a style-relevance for the masses.

retro fashion reloaded

Hair and make-up, done by Nieves Elorduy, focuses on the retro getup of the ’60s, ’80s and ’90s- poofed up beehive fringes and the illustrious bouffant creating effect and focus within each look as a whole.

Born into the humble town of Franschhoek, South Africa it was little wonder that Chevaun Roux would find her flavour in life through good food, good wine and stylish apparel. After completing a Bacherlors Degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics the world of freelance writing became the first choice in occupation, with no regrets and having never looked back. With a zest for anything with colour, vibrance and essence she found herself diving further into the world of fashion and design; from thifting vintage wedding dresses to pouring through new and modern jewelry pieces. This self anointed bohemian indentity believes in all the partisan revolutionary ideals of love, beauty and freedom, and when she isn’t writing or editing you can find her at the kitchens helm creating her latest milkshake masterpiece.
